I grew up watching Korean and other asian movies, not because I've always been a fan of Korean dramas, but because their stories got something in it that made it so interesting.
Here are some of the Best Korean Movies I enjoyed watching:
1. Sassy Girl
Who will ever forget the movie, My Sassy Girl. Way back in the early 2000, this movie made a big fuss in our school. If I remember it right, this was the highest grossing Korean film of all time. It has a simple yet entertaining plot that would drown you into tears but will make you laugh all along.
Artists: Jun Ji-Hyun and Cha Tae-Hyun
Genre: Romantic Comedy/Drama
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
2. iL Mare
Goosebumps, heart pounding and heart warming, these are the words that best describes Il Mare. The main characters both live there two years apart in time, but are able to communicate through a mysterious mailbox. I salute the writer and director for coming up with a story as beautiful as this.
Hint: Hollywood made a remake of this entitled "The Lake House."
Artists: Jun Ji-Hyun and Lee Jung-Jae
Genre: Romance/Drama/Mystery
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
3. The Classic
If you are looking for a movie that would pinch you deeply in your heart, you got to see this. It may be a lengthy film but for sure, it won't leave your eyes dry. This is the kind of story that when it's meant to be, then it is really meant to happen. This is indeed a masterpiece.
Artists: Soon Ye-Jin, Jo Seung-Woo and Choi Seung-Hyun
Genre: Romance/Drama/Time Travel
Rating: 4.0 out of 5
4. A Moment to Remember
Waaaah! Watched this on PC (way back) and I can't recall how many times my tears fell. Haha! This movie is a killer. It had a beautiful story that would crush you into pieces. I swear. From friendship to love to an incurable sickness and memory loss. It really sucks but worth every minute of your time. This is probably one of my favorites!
Artists: Soon Ye-Jin, Jung Woo-Seung
Genre: Romance/Drama
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
5. 200 Pounds Beauty
This movie is a good-feel movie.
Artists: Kim Ah-Joong and Joo Jin-Mo
Genre: Romantic Comedy/Drama
Rating: 4.0 out of 5
6. 100 days with Mr. Arrogant
After being dumped by her boyfriend just before their 100 day anniversary, Ha-Young (Ha Ji-Won) meets a college guy named Hyung-Joon when she kicks a can that accidentally hits him in the face and causes him to scratch his Lexus. He demands she pay him $3000 on the spot. She escapes from him, leaving her wallet behind. (Wikipedia)
That said, it's a fun-filled movie with lots of love along the way.
Artists: Ha Ji-Won / Kim JaeWon
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Rating: 4.0 out of 5
7. Heaven's Postman
Jae-joon used to be a promising young CEO of an IT company, until he unexpectedly becomes a postman. He delivers the letters grieving people have written, to their loved ones in heaven. Somehow it's weird but could still be entertaining. Jaejoong *__*
Artists: Jaejoong / Han Hyo Joo
Genre: Romance/Drama
Rating: 3.8 out of 5
8. Baby and Me
Jang Geun Suk (JKS) is so damn great in this movie and of course, Mason (the baby). How can an irresponsible happy-go-lucky highschool boy become a responsible daddy? I love it! It's a movie with so much sense.
Artists: Jang Geun Suk/Jang Keun Suk / Baby Mason
Genre: Family/Romance/Drama
Rating: 4 out 5
What else, hmm. Will continue this next time... the list goes on... although I have already listed my top favorites which I consider as my Best Korean Movies of all time :)
Keep posted!
